The thesis

         When I read Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, the one word that comes to mind is cognition, or understanding. The reason that guy abandons all he knows as a fireman is because he wants to have knowledge, the kind of knowledge he feels can only be received through books. These books are a key element to Guy's inner-turmoil as he tries to find meaning in himself. They are the physical manifestation of freedom and happiness to obtain knowledge(Cognition). In Guy's world, this very idea is not only taboo, but full on illegal. Thus insuring that Guy will eventually lead his obsession with Cognition to a violent and rebellious end.

I wish to do the following,
  1.A character description
-This genre sets out to set up a character whom most of the world doesn't seem to understand. Yet they try to anyways, even though he gives them fear.
  2.A haiku
-A small poem describing the struggle for knowledge and truth, which are essential for cognition.
  3.A found letter
-Here, the content doesn't matter as much as the search for the content. Even without a perfect medium to get it from.
  4.A radio ad
-This audio file attempts to capture the way we use fear to give people false cognition. Something that is very evident in Fahrenheit 451's world
  5.A recipe for happiness
-The goal of cognition, and life, in the end is to reach this arbitrary goal of happiness. Thus I must something about happiness to really tie together the idea of this story.
